Being unemployed could warp your personality, study says | Fox News: New research suggests being unemployed may actually alter a person's "core personality" for the worse, making it harder to secure new employment, per the American Psychological Association.
A study published in the APA's Journal of Applied Psychology looked at nearly 6,769 German adults who took a personality test at two points during a four-year period; 210 of the subjects were unemployed for one to four years during this period, while 251 were briefly unemployed but got another job within a year.
"Often the difference between a successful man (woman) and a failure is not one's better abilities or ideas, but the courage (faith) that one has to bet on his (her) ideas, to take a calculated risk, and to act." It might be said that communication is more of an art than a science. The easy part is simply exchanging information, speaking our thoughts to someone else. The art of communication, however, is knowing not only how to verbalize our ideas, but also how to listen, empathize, encourage, or influence. These actions are not automatic but take forethought and training to ensure messages are delivered to elicit a desired response.
