There are many companies who will hire people to work from home. Some of these will hire people in the US, some in Canada, some from almost anywhere in the world with Internet.
For any work from home job, check with the Better Business Bureau to find out if the company is legitimate. Learn how to avoid work from home scams....AND do a review search on your favorite search search engine for any company you are thinking about working for. Just type in the name of the company, add the word "reviews" and click to search. Between this and the Better Business Bureau, you can learn a great deal.

Learn how to avoid scams from gig and freelance work.
Look for legitimate sites for freelance and gig work. But still look for and avoid scams.
There are some companies who will pay you to do surveys. Most of the time I think they are scams or not worth it...BUT if you are not doing anything else and as long as you do not send them any money or give them any of your own account information, you might try...but be sure and check with the Better Business Bureau. Even if it says legitimate...it may not be. Some of these links are types of work, (where I know there is a lot of remote opportunities) and not companies.
If you see the word WARNING, or a form thereof, take it seriously.

You still need to do your own due diligence to verify if it's legitimate. Many of these companies have many types of work. Some companies will provide training.
You will find money making opportunities from extremely low tech (simple manual work) to extremely high tech.
